Brynna's birthday party

Saturday, we headed to Waco to celebrate Brynna's 5th birthday at Peter Piper Pizza. Apparently, half of Waco was celebrating birthdays that day too because the place was packed! We made it, right on time, and somehow avoided the parking lot meltdown that happened just before Makinley's party. Not sure how we did it, but we considered it a win.

As soon as we saw Brynna and the other kiddos, the fun began. At first, Brynna, again, thought she was in charge of Jacob which means putting him in a head lock and making him do what she wants. Since Jacob didn't enjoy this part, we convinced Brynna that since it was her birthday party, we would keep tabs on Jacob and she could just go and enjoy herself. She seemed to go for that because we barely saw her again the rest of the time. When you have your birthday party there, you get some tokens to play with. Those only lasted about 3 minutes for the kids, so the adults loaded up on tokens and went to have fun. Logan quickly figured out that he could always ask Randy or Scott for tokens and he would be given more....he's such a smart kid!

There were only a few things that were appropriate for Jacob's age, and he somewhat enjoyed those. His favorite thing to do, for the 2 hours that we were there, was to climb up onto the skee ball machine and interrupt any game that might be going on. Pretty much, Randy and I spent the entire time trying to keep him off of the skee ball game, and he would run off like he was going to do something different, but somehow always found his way back to skee ball.

Brynna got some awesome gifts (mostly Hello Kitty, especially from us), and we got to eat another great homemade cake by Carrie. Jacob enjoyed the cake and ice cream the most! Unfortunately, I didn't bring in the big camera so all we caught were a few pictures from my iphone.

Here he is enjoying a ride on the big Tonka truck. It's made just perfect to bonk his head every 5 seconds, so that was fun. But Randy showed him how to buckle himself in and that occupied him for a much longer time. Plus, you don't need tokens to sit there and play with the buckle...score for us again!




Here he is going for a ride with The Cat in the Hat. No head bonking or buckles here, so that didn't last too long.


Here he is HATING the horse ride. He has enjoyed riding one like this at Toys R Us and sitting on the broken one at Chuck E Cheese. However, he was not a fan when this thing started moving. M was trying to keep him on, but that was a big fail.


After cake, ice cream and presents, all of Brynna's guests got to ride the carousel with her. I don't do carousels, so Randy had to bring Jacob. Before they got situated, Makinley posed for a quick picture.


I never got a good picture of Randy and Jacob, but he did enjoy it. He didn't like sitting on the horse before it started moving, but did enjoy it once it was going.






After the party, we headed back to M and Pa's house for dinner. We all stayed up way too late having desserts, just talking and guessing some random person's occupation. I know that last part sounds weird, but it was true, and lasted almost an hour. However, it was a lot of fun...definitely a "You had to be there" moment.
